What a find! The Counting House is beautifully appointed and in a great location. Loads of walks over the Dales and Peak District close by. A number of good National Trust properties. We had a fabulous week

This is a fantastic 1770’s house, beautifully restored to its elegant Georgian period, ideal for a couple on a romantic escape.
…and there seemed nothing missing in the way of 21st C essentials – cosy central heating, TV, Wi-Fi etc plus a very well-appointed kitchen – though it was also very easy to eat out in this location!

We highly recommend the local cinema for its quirky foodery and comfy seats

Quirky and beautiful is how I would sum up The Counting House. Every room has something to admire and comfort is a priority throughout

Thankyou, Alison & Peter, for your hospitality at The Counting House. We were very comfortable and enjoyed sampling all the cafes in Wirksworth. I had a wonderful week making mosaics and my husband enjoyed the fishing. We will definitely be back!”

had a wonderful few days at this quirky and luxurious property, exploring the local area. The bedroom has a wonderful hand painted mural covering one complete wall and the ensuite bathroom has a massive free standing bath to soak in after a days walking. Lots of interesting places to visit from Arkwright's Mill at nearby Cromford to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Wirksworth itself comprises lots of interesting properties to stroll around and plenty of good eateries to walk to from the property. We will be returning.

I went to The Counting House for a quiet week of academic study in a quaint, quirky town. The study went well and the accommodation and town were just what I needed. Great indoor surroundings for my work and then wonderful walking and eateries and shopping (notably Scarthins Books at Cromford) were wonderful. The bedroom mural is wonderful, with a luxurious bathroom. The general feel of being in a historic house was real privilege.Wirksworth itself comprises lots of interesting properties to stroll around and plenty of good eateries to walk to from the property. We will be returning.
