The Counting House is magical! Such a stylish place to stay in a wonderful town. We have stayed in a lot of properties and this is among the best. Just about the perfect home from home.

It’s a perfect location for us, access to great walks from the door, pubs with real ale (and not just one!) and steeped in interesting history.

Wow! What a truly beautiful, interesting home. Far exceeded expectations! Couldn’t want for a better place to stay and in such a lovely location. Wirksworth offers walks from the door, eateries (Le Mistral is great!) and pubs for recuperation (- just over the road). Thankyou so much for allowing us to stay in such a unique place. Thankyou for allowing us to spend our ‘mini-moon’ here. It has been the perfect wind down after our wedding. A very comfortable, well equipped and welcoming house. Also a perfect location. We visited Chatsworth and had lunch at The Devonshire Arms which was very good. Our only regret is that we haven’t stayed long enough. I am sure, however, there will be a next time…

This is a fantastic 1770’s house, beautifully restored to its elegant Georgian period, ideal for a couple on a romantic escape.
…and there seemed nothing missing in the way of 21st C essentials – cosy central heating, TV, Wi-Fi etc plus a very well-appointed kitchen – though it was also very easy to eat out in this location!
